ONE LETTER. ONE TORAH.
The Sefer Torah (Torah Scroll) is the most sacred religious article in Jewish life.
The Torah is word-for-word, letter-for-letter exactly as we received it 3,300 years ago at Mount Sinai.
It forms a timeless connection to the past and is the key to a Jewish future. It evokes something special in our hearts, as it represents the unbroken chain of Jewish tradition and survival.
The Torah is an inheritance for every Jew, and regardless of background or knowledge level, we all have an equal share in it.
The 613th and final mitzvah in the Torah is that every Jew should write his own Sefer Torah. The sages have taught that
one can fulfill this mitzvah by dedicating a portion or even one letter in a Torah.
Have the Sofer write a portion or a letter in the Torah just for you! Both children and adults can participate in this mitzvah. Each part of the Torah, the letters, the words, the sentences and Torah portions, can be endowed in honor of your family, friends or in loving memory of those who have passed.
Did you know? A Torah that is incomplete or missing even one letter cannot be used at all. Every letter is equally important. When a community collectively writes a Torah, sponsoring portions and letters, it unites us all in a very tangible and meaningful way.
Unity among the Jewish people is our strongest defense system.
When we are united, we merit Hashems protection. Take part in this opportunity!
