The dedication of a new Torah scroll is traditionally celebrated with great festivity. There are three parts to the event:
Siyum Sefer Torah - the completion of the writing: The final words of the Torah are written at the event in the presence of the guests. Guests can participate in filling in outlined letters with the scribe’s guidance.
Hachnasat Sefer Torah – welcoming the Torah: Once the Torah has been completed, the Torah is led to the Shul under a Chupa canopy, accompanied by music, dancing, and much fanfare. There is additional dancing in the shul, similar to a Simchat Torah celebration.
After the Torah is welcomed into its new home and securely placed in the Aron Kodesh (Ark), guests partake in a festive meal.
